Highlanders make noise in Memorial Day weekend tournaments

The Hit & Run Highlanders had a great Memorial Day weekend tournament showing in several age groups.

The 12u Highlanders won the 2nd annual Marlboro Memorial tournament. The team ended their spring season with a great tournament. The bats exploded!!!

The 13u team went out to Mystic, Ct. and competed in the "War at the Shore" tournament.  In an 18 team bracket the boys were seeded #5 going into the playoffs after a 2-1 pool play start. They got revenge against the #4 seed Rhode Island Bears who had beaten them in pool play by returning the favor in the playoff quarterfinals 13-0 behind the strong pitching of William Grega who had a perfect game into the 5th inning before he gave up a hit! Then we faced the #1 seed New England Firebirds in the semi-finals, a powerhouse team out of the Boston area who had steamrolled teams until they met the Highlanders. The Highlanders beat them 7-1 behind some solid pitching by Blake Kawalski, Alex Quartararo, and Will Grega closed it out. The team got some timely hitting by Travis Stackow, Matt Bevilacqua, Mike LeFevre and many others against some tough pitchers! After that tough game the 13u team moved into the championship game against a strong local team the CT. Raiders. The boys came up short losing 6-4 in a tough battle after a long day of baseball.

The 14u Highlanders also had a very strong showing out in Mystic before losing in the semi-finals. Congrats boys!!

The 15u team was also out in Mystic, CT and they put on a good ride before losing in the semi-finals. A great weekend of baseball and family fun was had by all!!!
